Replace your dishwasher rinse aid with distilled white vinegar. Glasses will be streak-free, dish loads dry faster, and it cleans the dishwasher at the same time. Buy store brand vinegar and its a fraction of the cost compared to products like Jet-Dry!

Distilled White Vinegar: Distilled White Vinegar This mild acid works on alkaline substances, dissolving scale, inhibiting mold, and cutting soap scum. It's terrific for stains such as coffee, rust, and tea. Dilute distilled white vinegar in water to cut through tacky dirt, soap scum, mineral deposits, or wax buildup. (Add a drop of essential oil to diffuse the vinegar odor.) For heavy buildup, soak a rag in vinegar, lay it over the area, leave it for an hour, and then scrub.

    10. Keeping away ants - Ants do not like vinegar. Spray in cracks, around baseboards, on counter tops, or anywhere ants tend to crawl around your house. No need to put poisonous ant traps on your floor that kids or pets could get into.  I can't tell you how many chemicals I have sprayed around my house inside and out over the years.  So wish I had known about this a long time ago.

This long-forgotten gem of a cleaning agent may be used with a little water or vinegar to lift even the most stubborn stains. Unattractive grout driving you batty? Mold and mildew stains got you reaching for the Prozac? Burner pans and casserole dishes giving you fits? Cream of Tartar is your new best friend.

CBS did a special which stated "a straight 5% solution of vinegar kills 99 percent of bacteria, 82 percent of mold, and 80 percent of viruses". That's really amazing! Apparently salmonella only needs a 1% solution to be killed. When vinegar is combined with table salt or hydrogen peroxide, it can inhibit the growth of certain strains of e.coli. NOTE: Do NOT mix with bleach! Toxic fumes can result. (She gives two recipes for diy vinegar cleaners.)

Use 3/4 cup of canola oil, 1/4 cup of vinegar to restore wood. Don't wipe it off, the wood absorbs it.

BEST soap scum remover!! This REALLY works well. After trying a few other Pinterest suggestions, I made this. It's odd, but it's GREAT. Make a vinegar "gel" by thickening vinegar with cornstarch. The vinegar CLINGS to what ever you spray it on...thus gives it more time to work. A little detergent cuts grease. I heated 1 cup of vinegar and 1 T corn starch in the microwave for 2 minutes. Add 2 T dish detergent and put it in a spay bottle. Spray. Wait 1hr. Wipe. Rinse.

re-fluffing your towels: Wash towels with 1 cup of vinegar on hot, then wash again with 1/2 cup of baking soda on hot. Voila! Fresh & fluffy like new!
