Vocabulogic: Developing Language, Knowledge, and Vocabulary via Dialogic Reading Methods (Urbani)

Corduroy by Don Freeman is the first in a long series of picture books about little teddy bear. In this one he's living in an apartment store, forgotten on a shelf long enough he's lost one of his buttons. This book is part of my childhood!

My boys heard this from the time I knew they were in my belly! Best book ever for mom's and sons!

I remember my mom would cry everytime she read this book to my brother. Such a sweet book! I need to read it to my sweet boy.

Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. This was the first book I ever read that made me cry when I read it.

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein, and all of his other children's poetry books. I got this as a birthday present in grade and read the "Sharp-Toothed Snail" poem for a school talent show! The girls love these poems too.

I have no idea why... But this face looks like the stuff my nightmares are made up of..he looks like the texas chainsaw massacre creep. ugh. I'll probably have nightmares just because I pinned this.

"The Denver, Colorado nonprofit literacy group Burning Through Pages has gone viral with a gorgeous black and white poster encouraging parents to share books with their kids." -‘These Are Your Kids on Books’ Poster Goes Viral By Jason Boog on May 2012

*I* love this one, but my almost 4 year old only tolerates it occasionally. If you're not familiar with the series, they're chapter books with each chapter a short topical story. But unlike most chapter books, there's a pic on each page so it's still appropriate for the very young.

Frog and Toad are Friends. This "I can read" book by Arnold Lobel is truly charming. It is full of great wisdom, depth and insight in the simplest of terms and stories. I am still enchanted by this and the other Frog and Toad books.

The Giving Tree was literally my childhood book. It's still my favorite childhood book
