This is a link to the boxed set of the first 8 books in the (what will be) 13 book series. I honestly feel like the Sookie books are junk food for your soul. If you are into classical writing, this is NOT the series for you. However, if you're searching for something a little more self indulgent, then the Sookie books are right on track. The first 4ish books in this series are great- but now I am so deep, I'll finish it out! Enjoy!
The Kite Runner is the story of Amir, a Sunni Muslim, who struggles to find his place in the world because of the aftereffects and fallout from a series of traumatic childhood events. An adult Amir opens the novel in the present-day United States with a vague reference to one of these events, and then the novel flashes back to Amir's childhood in Afghanistan.
Gone Girl- Gillian Flynn Gone Girl is a Crime/Mystery novel about a young couple whose wife goes missing. (that's the jist- I'm not giving anything away!) This book is fantastic. Although initially the going is hard and reading the first few chapters is a bit tedious to get through, keep at it! About 1/3 in, things get good. This was written in an intricately unique style, and by the end, you won't put it down!
