    Use the yarn and alchohol/ nail polish remover method. Cuts just as well and no extra expense

    Of u take a length of yarn and soak it in acetone, then carefully wrap it around the wine bottle where you'd like to cut it (taking care not to let acetone drip down bottle) then blow dry on high heat setting around the yarn until it's dry, you can then remove yarn and tap glass with a butter knife at that spot, it will split perfectly, use sand paper to smooth edges.

Wine bottle lanterns, this links to an etsy site where its being sold. I'm pretty sure you could make like 5 of them for about 15 bucks with recycled glass bottles, a candle holder from hobby lobby and some stuff from a hardware store.
