1928 Two-piece sports dress, American: tan silk tweed trimmed with silk ribbon. Three-paneled skirt with flare is typical of later 1920s, and bias curve on sides left plenty of room for sports activities. During World War I, when wool and cotton were scarce, American silk manufacturers developed new silk and silk-blend fabrics to encourage women to wear silk around the clock.
