SURREALISM EYE PROJECT

Surrealism eyes -inspired by Magritte's painting LE FAUX MIROIR. Also looked at Echer's eye. Discussed how surrealism is dreamlike or an altered reality made to make you think. The students began by just drawing several eye shapes, sketch and re-sketch ideas until they had one they were happy with (this part is important as ideas take time to develop). Some students had many ideas others had a hard time with one. For those with no ideas I talked about their interests (eg. hockey)

Vase of Flowers inspired by Galla Serifin. Each child creates a large painting or collage of a flower head - based on an observational drawing - arrange these as a bouquet in a vase for a single collaborative artwork.
Koi in the water again. Wash of water then blue and some salt. outline fish in black crayon then watercolor.
Great collaborative effort. Each child makes a flower and then they are quartered and rearranged. This would make a lovely permanent piece for the school.
OMG- yesss!!! (Then display the artwork at the restaurant!!) Excited to let the patrons see my babies' mad skills!! Sombreros- Cinco De Mayo
Get your groups in shape with the GROUPS poster and bulletin board set.
Fabric scraps as flowers- spray with starch and make into magnets???
Eyes: Doesn't matter to me if they are created by someone or something, or evolved over billions of years. They are just dang cool either way :)
