SURREALISM EYE PROJECT
by heidabjorg on Flickr
Surrealism eyes -inspired by Magritte's painting LE FAUX MIROIR. Also looked at Echer's eye. Discussed how surrealism is dreamlike or an altered reality made to make you think. The students began by just drawing several eye shapes, sketch and re-sketch ideas until they had one they were happy with (this part is important as ideas take time to develop). Some students had many ideas others had a hard time with one. For those with no ideas I talked about their interests (eg. hockey)

the eye project (side) . A North Park University community art project. Participants made images of fellow North Park students (or in a couple cases, faculty). 67 blocks total, mounted on a gold-leafed circle.
Setting and enforcing strong expectations for group work from the beginning of the year can make all the difference in the world.
the eye project by t i m o, via Flickr: would be a wonderful project for seniors/ap students to leave behind for future classes/generations
Landscape painting. Draw with pencil, trace with sharpies, then paint using only lines.
could be a fun project idea...art class. Create an opening of some kind... What creature would be behind? Fun, texture and color study.

Circle onto grid, branches onto circle--just make sure your two color schemes are sufficiently cotrasting, then go for tints and shades
Get your groups in shape with the GROUPS poster and bulletin board set.
Each child created an oil pastel piece and then they were hung as a group, lovely.
Perspective - - looks like construction paper squares as the roofs with the houses drawn down from there. Love the colors, too!
