Mar 12th 1926, Edward Willis Scripps (b. 1854), was an American newspaper publisher and founder of The E. W. Scripps Company, a diversified media conglomerate. The E. W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University is named for him. Scripps died at the age of 71, as requested, his body was buried at sea by being dumped overboard from his yacht.
