St. Marks Cathedral is The third church built on site. It was the both the palace chapel of doge and burial blac for the bones of the patron of vinice, St. Mark. In 1807 it was made into a cathedral. The beautiful mosaics all over the cathedral have been reworked over time to the present day.
Inside St. Mark's Basilica, Venice, Italy. We squeaked in the tourist line right before the cut off time, and we were in there with very few people, at sunset, nothing but candles and some dusty sun rays. Unbelievable sacred and beautiful place! Those images covering the walls are made out of tiny gold mosaic tiles. Millions of them.
