Use baking soda and vinegar to fix funky towels. Over time, and with many washes, your bath towels will build up detergent and fabric softener residue, leaving them both unable to absorb as much water and smelling kinda funky when they do. Rather than give Target another lump sum, run them through the wash once with hot water and a cup of vinegar, then again with hot water and a half-cup of baking soda, as wikiHow suggests. That strips the residue from them, leaves them smelling fairly fresh…
"My husband owned his own A/C business for a long time....he said everything on here is the PROPER way to do this.....do it yourself, will make unit not work so hard and you save $ by not paying the A/C company!" Our electric bill rose to $430 two years ago and a simple A/C cleaning lowered it to $150.
Once a week, for 20 minutes, sit in a hot bath that contains a handful of Epsom salts, 10 drops of lavender essential oil, and a half cup of baking soda. This combo draws out toxins, lowers stress-related hormones and balance your PH levels. (I need to do this so bad)
Must try: How to get your dirty whites clean again... HOT HOT HOT water, 1 cap of laundry detergent, 1 cup powdered dish washer detergent, 1 cup bleach, 1/2 cup borax. Tell you what, you have to rewash it once to put softener in but it's the whitest you'll ever see your whites. If you omit the bleach it works great to get stains out of colors too (baby spit up is no longer a stain on OLD clothes)
Homemade Congestion Clearing Remedy : 1/4 cup water + 1/4 cup unfiltered apple cider vinegar + 1 tablespoon honey + 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper + 1 wedge lemon. Bring water to a boil; combine hot water and vinegar in a small glass or mug; add honey and pepper, stir well. Top off with a squeeze of lemon. Take a deep breath of the mixture, and start drinking.
Recharge your towels! Run them through laundry twice - skip detergent both loads. First load: hot water + a cup of vinegar. Second load: hot water + 1/2 cup baking soda. Towels are fresh and absorbent.
Review: Refresh Your Towels with Baking Soda & Vinegar
WINNER! How to refresh your towels from unOriginalMom Over time, towels build up detergent and fabric softener, leaving them unable to absorb as much water and smelling funky. Recharge them by washing them once with hot water and one cup vinegar, then a second time with hot water and half cup baking soda. This strips the residue and leaves them fresh and able to absorb more water again.
5. Funky Towels I originally saw this on lifehacker, and I just had to try it. You know how sometimes bath towels and kitchen cloths get that weird bad smell? Try this! Wash your stinky load of towels in hot water, first with 1 cup vinegar (no soap or fabric softener). Then run another complete wash cycle with just 1/2 cup baking soda (again, no soap or fabric softener). Dry as normal. The smell disappears! I've tried it and it's amazing!
How to Clean and Maintain a Smelly Front Loading Washing Machine
Once a month, add a cup of Distilled White Vinegar & 1 Cup of Baking Soda directly into the drum and use HOT water for washing. Then, I add about ½ cup of vinegar into the fabric softener compartment and ½ cup of baking soda into the detergent compartment. Set the wash on “Quick Wash” with HOT water and High Spin Cycle. If the mold situation is really bad,use bleach instead of vinegar and baking soda. But make sure you run a few empty cycles just with hot water before doing a load of wash.
