Pysanky!!! Ukrainian eggs - I actually bought the kit to make these (okay, to make crude wannabes), but I haven't used it yet. I need to do that.

Pinner said: my ukrainian grandmother taught me how to make eggs like this when I was young. use melted wax to draw a design on the eggs, allow it to dry, then dip the egg into dye. once finished dying, allow to dry, then warm the wax (she did this over a candle flame), and wipe the wax off with a towel. if you blow the egg insides out beforehand, then the eggs will last forever!

Pysanky and a Hex sign, my two favorite "just for nice" art.

Pysanky Pascha by patagonian_egg, via Flickr. The variety of colours and intricate designs is enormous!

pysanky {I was introduced to decorated eggs - actual eggs & ones from porcelain, alabaster, glass, etc.- while in Italy & visiting Germany! I LOVE the idea! Much more artistic than just plunking a hard boiled egg in beet juice & vinegar (homemade version of Easter egg dyes or foodcoloring! :)

The art of pysanky. So much prettier and way more fun than simple dying of eggs during Lent/Easter.

This one is amazing. I wonder if it's a chicken egg, or a goose or duck egg? LIKE the cross design
