Raku pottery. This look of this piece is created by applying horsehair to the clay just before it is fired. Thus you see the markings of the horsehair that burns during ground fired pottery.
No the look is made by adding horsehair after the piece is fired not before. Adding it before firing would cause the carbon to burn off during the firing thus leaving a blank pot.
