This real life research project kills two birds with one stone: students will practice their research skills while working with you to decide on the rules for electronic devices in your classroom. It's a great activity for the start of semester, and in my experience, the students are much more likely to comply with rules they have helped develop themselves!
One of my personal favorite science projects, this would make a great addition to a science interactive notebook. After studying about the phases of the moon, the students can make this moon clock to show the different phases of the moon and the order in which they occur. The circular clock also reinforces the idea of cycles in nature. $ #moonphases #space
