Queen Elizabeth II wearing George IV State Diadem, made by Rundell Bridge and Rundell in 1820 for the coronation of King George IV, photo by John Hedgecoe
Profile shot of Queen Elizabeth II taken by John Hedgecoe to be used on postage stamps. Hedgecoe took a series of profile shots of the Queen in 1966 after being commissioned by the Postmaster General. Once the Queen had selected her favorite, the sculptor Arnold Machin made it into a plaster relief, which Hedgecoe then photographed. It is this shot which has since been reproduced on some 200 billion (& counting) stamps.
