So I always see this book sitting on the shelf labeled school reading list and decided to check it out. It was really good and I love they way it is told through a film script and journal entries. Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi In America's Gulf Coast region, where grounded oil tankers are being broken down for parts, Nailer, a teenage boy, works the light crew, scavenging for copper wiring just to make quota--and hopefully live to see another day. But when, by luck or chance, he discovers an exquisite clipper ship beached during a recent hurricane, Nailer faces the most important decision of his life:
To Read: Cree says: "After Bacigalupi's first science fiction novel, THE WIND UP GIRL, won the Hugo & the Nebula in 2010, he followed it with this young adult novel. Both books share themes of environmental destruction, climate change brought on, in part, by human nature, and evil corporate greed. SHIP BREAKER is a coming-of-age/action/travel/adventure story about a young boy born into the very low rungs of a dark and desperate future world."
