If you loved "The Kite Runner," you will love this book also. Unimaginably tragic, Hosseini's magnificent second novel is a sad and beautiful testament to both Afghani suffering and strength.

Another favorite. Gearing up to teach this to my sophomores after Christmas Break. Probably my favorite thing to teach.

The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. "Every real story is a never ending story."

Always got her head in a book. Acrylic on canvas. by linzart.

My niece saw the movie for the first time this she needs to read the book:)

My mother read most of these books to me when I was a child. Loved all the Harry the Dirty Dog books. I cried over The Little House. Stone Soup is classic, as well as Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. And loved the House on 88th Street (Lyle, Lyle Crocodile). But Alexander and his Horrible etc.Day was the perfect book. Yes, we all have bad days sometimes. Thanks mom, for reading to me!

I grew up in libraries, LOVE the smell of books and the feel of paper; the turn of a good phrase.

... but it's important to remember that the movie version is just an interpretation of the book. It's like when two different artists sing 'Jingle Bells'. Jingle Bells is a very old song with definite lyrics, but the artists give it whatever variations they want.

Enjoy my reading time! LOL. Those of you who know me know I always have a book or magazine with me :) & now Kindle makes that so much easier!!!
