Another favorite. Gearing up to teach this to my sophomores after Christmas Break. Probably my favorite thing to teach.
My mother read most of these books to me when I was a child. Loved all the Harry the Dirty Dog books. I cried over The Little House. Stone Soup is classic, as well as Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. And loved the House on 88th Street (Lyle, Lyle Crocodile). But Alexander and his Horrible etc.Day was the perfect book. Yes, we all have bad days sometimes. Thanks mom, for reading to me!
... but it's important to remember that the movie version is just an interpretation of the book. It's like when two different artists sing 'Jingle Bells'. Jingle Bells is a very old song with definite lyrics, but the artists give it whatever variations they want.
