"Chocolat" (2000). A woman and her daughter open a chocolate shop in a small French village that shakes up the rigid morality of the community. This movie is pure magic, with a bit of chocolate decadence thrown in. Add Juliette Binoche Judi Dench, and Johnny Depp, and you have a perfect storm.

One of my favorite movies of all time. Beautifully whimsical with an important underlying message regarding prejudice and intolerance.

Chocolat // I love this move. I wish they would make the next book which is called "The Girl with No Shadow". It is a must read

Chocolat: "I'm not sure what the theme of my homily today ought to be. Do I want to speak of the miracle of Our Lord's divine transformation? Not really, no. I don't want to talk about His divinity. I'd rather talk about His humanity. I mean, you know, how He lived His life, here on Earth. His *kindness*, His *tolerance*... Listen, here's what I think. I think that we can't go around... measuring our goodness by what we don't do. By what we deny ourselves, what we resist, and who we exclude. I think... we've got to measure goodness by what we *embrace*, what we create... and who we include."

When an exotic stranger, Vianne Rocher, arrives in the French village of Lansquenet and opens a chocolate boutique directly opposite the church, Father Reynaud denounces her as a serious moral danger to his flock - especially as it is the beginning of Lent, the traditional season of self-denial.Chocolat (Chocolat, #1)

Johnny Depp. A really great story. Johnny Depp. Chocolate. Johnny Depp.....

One of the Best Movies of all Time - "Citizen Kane," 1941 - Orson Welles was only 25 yrs. old when he co-wrote, produced & directed this classic film. Nominated for 9 Academy Awards, it won for Best Writing. If you ever have a chance to see this film, notice the lighting & camera work. Phenomenal & quite innovative for the time. Wonderful movie.

Yes. Juliette's character in this movie is my style icon. >> Chocolat and Johnny Depp. What's not to like?

I love the color palette in Chocolat, warm browns, reds, ochres, coral, accented with antique blue

Chocolat hits the Lenten nail on the head, if you will--is it a season of self-denial & austerity to the point of forbidding grace & joy? Sublime performances by Juliette Binoche & an all-star cast.
