Memoirs of a Geisha is a novel by American author Arthur Golden, published in 1997. The novel, told in first person perspective, tells the fictional story of a geisha working in Kyoto, Japan, before and after World War II. It contains many Japanese terms for aspects of the geisha culture, occasionally using the Kyoto counterparts.

AMAZING! I have read this book at least 5 times. It hits me hard ever time. Truly extraordinary. It's an easy, quick read and I would recommend this to every one!

Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen - Deeply funny and delightful, and probably my favorite Austen (when I haven't read another more recently). Audio version narrated by Nadia May is excellent.

The Giver by Lois Lowry - I believe production has started on a movie version...I love it when my favorite books become movies!

The Giver - Read. I read this when I was in middle school and I didn't like it then. So, I thought, with the movie coming out, I'd give it another shot. Still leaves a bit to be desired, but the dystopian genre always makes me think.

First good book I've read in a long time.  About an orphaned, indentured white child who grows up with the slaves on a southern plantation.  5 stars!
