    Cerinthe retorta Annie's Annuals

  • Elaine Howard

Cerinthe retorta - This wildly unusual and very rare Grecian hardy annual. Presented in clusters curved like a shepherd’s hook, fascinating purple & yellow, two-toned, tubular blooms are clasped in dark purple bracts. Hundreds of clusters are well displayed atop branching stems and pleasing, soft green, oval leaves with white polka dots. Usually a Spring – Summer bloomer, but you can plant it year around in milder climates like ours, even in Winter. Self-sows returns each Spring. Loved by bees!

Blue Podded Pea This historic variety dates back hundreds of years in Europe and is still popular in parts of Europe and Canada today. It is beautifully ornamental and produces lovely purple flowers and purple blue pods. If harvested young, they are great to cook like snow-peas or if left to mature and shelled, they are perfect for soups! A great crop for children!
