Lava Fountain of Mt Etna Volcano in Italy. Europe's most active volcano sent streams of red hot lava high into the night sky March 2013. Fountains = series of short pulses or a continuous jet of lava. The highest lava fountains ever recorded were during the 1999 eruption of this Mount Etna in Italy, which reached heights of 2,000 meters (6,562 ft).
