The Feingold Program (also known as the Feingold Diet) is a test to determine if certain foods or food additives are triggering particular symptoms. It is basically the way people used to eat before "hyperactivity" and "ADHD" became household words, and before asthma and chronic ear infections became so very common.
Because we ate very few foods with artificial dyes, I had dismissed the Feingold diet as irrelevant to my son's symptoms. It turns out that Salicylates sensitivity may be the real factor. I'm a little intimidated by the elimination process, but thinking about giving it a try since so many people have had success.
ADHD-Friendly Recipes by Jacqueline Sinfield - "When you cook at home, you can be guaranteed that the food is healthy and that no one has sneaked in a ton of fat, salt or sugar to make the dish taste better. Plus when you eat whole and healthy foods, your ADHD symptoms get easier to manage." (Recommends Paleo recipe site: www.elanaspantry.com)
