Books Worth Reading, Irving Book, Favourite Book, John Irving, Favorite Books, Favorite Author, Time Favorite, Books Book
The first John Irving book I read. He's one of my favorite authors, a modern-day Dickens (who is also one of my faves).
The World According to Garp is John Irving's fourth novel. Published in 1978, the book was a bestseller for several years. It was a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction in 1979 and its first paperback edition won the Award next year. - I love this book!
One of my all time favorite books. First read as a senior in high school - it has stayed with me ever since.
the world according to garp, john irving. one of my all-time favorites. (the movie is pretty damn good, too.)
"... all these years Walt had been dreading a giant toad, lurking offshore, waiting to suck him under and drag him out to sea. The terrible Under Toad." My second favourite John Irving book.
I love all John Irving books, but this was one of my faves (along with Cider House Rules)
I don't think I have a favorite book by John Irving , I love them all.
One of my all time favorite books and authors
My very favourite book!
Catch 22 has held up really well to rereading, which is more than you can say about most books I read in high school.

Catch-22 Joseph Heller '[He] would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn't have to; if he didn't want to he was sane and had to.' Dark comedic commentary/satire on futility of war - still relevant today
Catch-22 | Joseph Heller -- An engrossing story of war, insanity, and bureaucracy. Riotously funny, I swear!
Catch-22. Joseph Heller. Located at UConn Torrington Library.
Catch-22 - Joseph Heller , definitely on the list.
Catch-22 one of my all time favorite books.

John Irving: A Prayer for Owen Meany
Book Club, High School, Mother, Books I Ve, Favourite Book, Irving, Favorite Books, Time Favorite
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving -- first mentioned on page 8 of The End of Your Life Book Club
In A Prayer for Owen Meany, the titular character is a dwarf with a nails-on-a-chalkboard voice who accidentally kills his best friend's mother during a baseball game. The story that unfolds in John Irving's incandescent prose will remind the reader that small miracles happen at every turn.
A Prayer for Owen Meany -- My all time favorite book. Started it three times before I finally finished it.
The movie was so bad that John Irving wouldn't allow his name to be used to promote it, but A PRAYER FOR OWEN MEANY remains an all-time favorite.
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving | 26 Contemporary Books That Should Be Taught In High School
All-Time Favorite Book!! First line - “I am doomed to remember a boy with a wrecked voice – not because of his voice, or because he was the smallest person I ever knew, or even because he was the instrument of my mother’s death, but because he is the reason I believe in God; I am a Christian because of Owen Meany." LOVE. Also, must READ. The movie didn't resemble the book. Book is a gazillion times better.
This is my all-time favorite book. Owen is my hero. John Irving is my favorite author.

The Fault In Our Stars Book by John Green. I loved this book so much I wish I had it so I could read it over and over again.
MUST READ!! I like to read the book BEFORE I see the movie. The Fault In Our Stars Book by John Green
The Fault In Our Stars Book by John Green | This book made me cry and I fell in love with all the characters!
The Fault In Our Stars Book by John Green | This book in particular was the first book of many that I've read more than once. The way the story develops an everyday feeling to a not-so-everyday situation is amazing. Although what makes me creeped a bit is that a middle-aged man wrote a teen book in a girls perspective.. What else is new, we have Fifty Shades Of Gray so nothing gets weirder than that..

Sometimes when I watch a movie I love it so much that I want to read the book, and reading the book makes me hate the movie...true story
so true..only 2 books to movies have impressed me so far. They are Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. I hope that The Hobbit does not disappoint!
And this is why I vow no more books before movies if I can help it. Can't wait for hunger games movie cause I have exercised a lot of patience waiting to read the book.
So true. But the Hunger Games movie was pretty amazing

To be read in the daylight. My Anthony loved this book. Any Stephen King book for that matter!
It is a 1986 horror novel by American author Stephen King. The story follows the exploits of seven children as they are terrorized by the inter-dimensional predatory life-form that exploits the fears & phobias of its victims in order to disguise itself while hunting. "It" appears in the form of "Pennywise the Dancing Clown" described by characters who see It as resembling a combination of Bozo, Clarabell and Ronald McDonald, in order to attract its preferred prey of young children.
Stephen King's It. First scary book that I ever read.

Goodnight Moon | Pattern Picture Book | Why: It's a critically acclaimed bedtime story. It repeats itself over and over (I.E. goodnight room and goodnight moon). I want it for my library because it seems to be such a soothing book and great for beginner readers.
Classic Children's Books - Goodnight Moon. Once traveling in Vermont they had a museum honoring Margaret Wise Brown and they had a room designed to replicate Goodnight Moon. It made you smile! :) jb
Goodnight Moon is an American childrens book written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd. It was first published in 1947, and is a highly acclaimed example of a bedtime story. It is about a child saying goodnight to everything around: Goodnight room. Goodnight moon. Goodnight cow jumping over the moon. Goodnight light, and the red balloon...

The Color Purple, Alice Walker Flavorwire Although we did not read this novel in class, i thought this book could be tied in with Perfect Peace. The Great Gatsby--F. Scott Fitzgerald's great American novel
Fitzgerald, High School, Dust Jacket, Favorite Book, Dust Cover, Time Favorite
The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald. Hands down my all time favorite book by my all time favorite author
All Time favorite book! First published in 1925, a novel by the American author F. Scott Fitzgerald.
The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald. Classic American literature. Loved reading this in high school. Easily pulled into the excellent plot.
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. A book I am so glad I was forced to read in high school...continues to be an all-time favorite.
The green light, the Golden Girl, the Valley of Ashes, the swirling leaves. Fitzgerald's masterpiece speaks first to high school students who are forced to read it and surprises them with its intrigue, often prompting voluntary rereading and rediscovery or even opening the door for exploration of literature as a whole.
The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald. Undeniably one of the greatest book jackets of all time.
One of my all time favorite books and authors. High school lit did do some good.
One of my all-time favorite book covers (but not so much the words inside)
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1925. Octavo. Original green cloth, titles to spine gilt and to upper board in blind, top edge trimmed others uncut. With the dust jacket. Housed in a dark green quarter morocco solander box made by The Chelsea Bindery. Foxing to page edges and the first and last gatherings, mild browning to the endpapers but an especially bright copy, tight and square in the slightly chipped dust jacket with a little professional repair. The folds have been internally strengthened and several tears repaired with retouching to the creases and rubbing. A very attractive copy, the brightness of the blue is especially good. First edition, first printing, first state of the text, first issue dust jacket. The copy is the correct first printing.
My favorite book, lost count of how many times I've read it.

Even after I read this in high school, it continues to be one of my favorite books. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger
catcher in the #cover book #book cover #book covering #3d book cover| http://coverbookrachelle.blogspot.com
J.D. Salinger: The Catcher in the Rye book cover THE CATCHER IN THE RYE is an ancient child of sixteen, a native New Yorker named Holden Caulfield. Through circumstances that tend to preclude adult, secondhand description, he leaves his prep school in Pennsylvania and goes underground in New York City for three days.
"The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger - Since his debut in 1951 as The Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield has been synonymous with "cynical adolescent." Holden narrates the story of a couple of days in his sixteen-year-old life, just after he's been expelled from prep school, in a slang that sounds edgy even today and keeps this novel on banned book lists.
Read this book again when my kids were in High School (2003) & it was banned from their reading list.
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger: The tale of a disillusioned drop-out and his misadventures in 1940s New York. Holden Caulfield is one of my favourite literary characters, and this book was my favourite read in high-school English class.
TO READ: The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. Was not on our high school reading list and I've never read. Still, looking forward to the release of the "archived" material. (Leave a comment if you've read.)
I've never understood parents wanting to ban this book from high school libraries and literature reading lists. Whenever I've asked many of them if they're read it, they say no, "but I've heard a lot of negative things." The story of a troubled teenager, Holden Caulfield, "The Catcher in the Rye" is on my list of books I read every few years. Like many fans of Salinger, I try and keep the popularity fires burning!
