The Power of One: A Novel

This is one of my favorite books of all time! It's such a heartfelt and profound story of a young boy growing up in apartheid S. Africa and how he grows into a talented boxer who fights for the end of the racism and opression in his country.

Can't believe that's it's an autobiography. What a crazy childhood!

The Truth About Running With Scissors

Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs-->The true story of a boy whose mother (a poet with delusions of Anne Sexton) gave him away to be raised by her unorthodox psychiatrist who bore a striking resemblance to Santa Claus.

Another great book-to-movie read. Quite engrossing and disturbing, but I'm very excited to watch the movie. Can't wait to see Lisbeth Salander brought to life!

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - The book was better than the movie and I highly recommend the read.

Maybe it was a grandparent, or a teacher or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, and gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it. For Mitch Albom, that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly twenty years ago.

Tuesdays with Morrie is a memoir by American writer Mitch Albom. The story was later recreated by Thomas Rickman into a TV movie of the same name directed by Mick Jackson. This starred Jack Lemm.
