This was definitely NOT done for 40 dollars, but it's an interesting read if you ever think you might want to redo your kitchen countertops. :D >> DIY Butcher Block Countertops Guide... this was done for only 40 bucks if you can believe it!

A warm and rich butcher block counter top. It's simple but looks dramatic in contrast to the white cabinets. Would be a good idea when we redo the kitchen.

Love the idea of a partial Butcher Block Countertop, because who wants to get out a cutting board every time? :)

If we end up with all white cabinet doors, I think I'd like to have wooden countertops, but I'm worried about water damage, as I'm not always as careful about wiping things up as this chick is.

i don't think I want it by a sink, but.... (other user's writing) "butcher block countertops from IKEA. Have always thought about dark cabinets and a lighter counter top when(ever) we redo the kitchen, but I like the idea of the dark counter top with light cabinets...

Butcher block top with trash cut-out. Instead of having a hole to lift the cut-out with though, have some sort of lever underneath to push it up. The hole would annoy me.

For our kitchen: don't love the main light fixture, but the counter tops, shelves and glass cabinets!! Totally doable!

This butcher block looks awesome! I'm trying to figure out the best way to use my grandfather's butcher block that he used for many years in his grocery store. However, his does not look this nice. It is old/worn wood and it is not as flat as this one. Should I sand down the deep edges to make it more flat and stain it? Or just leave it in it's antique shape? @Sheila Baker @Tia Hiles
