Compound butter is simply butter with an added flavor or two mixed in. It's not just like buttering an item and then adding a sprinkle of the flavor - compound butter becomes a unique flavor unto itself. You can put these on pastries, meat, pasta - anything you like.
Compound Butters rock. Berry, cinnamon, honey or brown sugar for breakfast foods. Steak is good with savory compound butters like chipotle, garlic herb, or mushroom. Chicken is good with lemon dill, cinnamon, sun-dried tomato or rosemary. Seafood is good with lemon, lemon dill, season salt or lime. Veggies too! These are just some ideas. You can make anything! Whip it up in your food processor or use a hand mixer, roll in tubes or fill ice cube trays, and freeze.
