Dr Zhivago tells the story of five young people as they live through the Russian Revolution, when the Russian monarchy is overthrown and the world’s first Communist state is established.

Boris Pasternak, Doctor Zhivago: riveting portrait of the horrors of Bolshevik Russia. Some refuse to give up on individuality. Of course, the Soviet Union banned the book and then prevented Pasternak from receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1958. http://www.lewrockwell.com/
#6, 2012 Reading Challenge, "Doctor Zhivago" by Boris Pasternak, turned out to be a pleasant surprise
Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak - an epic tale, filled with true emotion, as well as expertly described scenery...
One of my favorite books - one of my favorite movies. I've met Omar Shariff...may I say: WOW :)
Dr. Zhivago, a novel by Boris Pasternak named after its protagonist, Yuri Zhivago, a physician and poet. It takes place between the Russian Revolution of 1905 and World War II. Due to its depiction of the October Revolution, the novel was refused publication in the USSR. The manuscript was smuggled to Milan and published in 1957. Pasternak was given the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1958, enraging the Soviet Communist Party. Pasternak had to decline the prize but is still considered the winner.
Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak... One of my favorite books. It's Russian, so of course there is a tragic element to it, but it's seriously one the best books. It takes place in Russia before, during, and after the Revolution. It's about a man named Yury Zhivago who is swept up in the tumult of his country's struggles, as well as his own. He first falls in love with his childhood friend Tania, but even that is eclipsed when he meets the beautiful and mysterious Lara. It's an amazing book.
Loved seeing this classic movie again.

Worth Reading, Margaret Mitchell, Civil War, Books Books, Favorite Books, Favorite Movie, Gone With The Wind, Time Favorite
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell ~ Until recently, this was my all-time favorite book, but is now a close second. Not much can compare to the story of Scarlett and her life journey through the Civil War and Reconstruction. The characters, places, and times just come alive as you read!
My all time favorite book and movie. In 1936 Margaret Mitchell publishes Gone with the Wind. Three years later it hits the silver screen, starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh.
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchel. After the Civil War sweeps away the genteel life to which she has been accustomed, Scarlett O'Hara sets about to salvage her plantation home
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell // Explores the depth of human passions with an intensity as bold as its setting in the red hills of Georgia. It vividly depicts the drama of the Civil War and Reconstruction. This is the tale of Scarlett O’Hara, the spoiled, manipulative daughter of a wealthy plantation owner, who arrives at young womanhood just in time to see the Civil War forever change her way of life.
Margaret Mitchell's "Gone with the Wind" is probably 1 of my top 5 favorite books I've read

The Unbearable Lightness of Being Milan Kundera - one of my favorite books! “In the sunset of dissolution, everything is illuminated by the aura of nostalgia, even the guillotine.”
The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera -- Czech Republic -- Follows the lives of four main characters and...the poor decisions they make. Probably one of my least favorite books I've ever read. I wouldn't have finished it if it hadn't been an assignment for my fiction literature class.

Flowers in the Attic... I read this when I was in High School and V.C. Andrews became my all-time favorite author. Since then, I started collecting her novels. Now, I already have over 50 hard copies of her Masterpieces.
I want to write a screenplay for movie version of my favorite book of all time. trust me...it will be MUCH better than the 1987 film!
Flowers in the Attic... Remember everyone reading VC Andrews books? I wish they would remake this movie.
VC Andrews - Flowers in the Attic. Was totally addicted to all of her books when I was in high school.
V.C. Andrews Flower In The Attic Forget the movie - it absolutely doesn't do justice to this haunting tale! The entire series is worth a read - riveting and chilling. Drawing you along, the series continues with If There Be Thorns, Seeds Of Yesterday and Garden of Shadows ...
Before there was Twilight and Stephanie Meyer..we had VC Andrews. I could literally read a V.C. Andrews book every day in high school. I don't know how I ever found the time.

The Host-Stephanie Meyer...a gripping story of love and betrayal in a future with the fate of humanity at stake. Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed.
The real Stephenie Meyer masterpiece - another guilty pleasure if you like a little sci fi in your life
The Host (The Host, #1) Seriously, one of my favorite books. I don't know where this Stephenie Meyer was when Twilight was being written, but I probably would've liked Twilight a lot more if this Stephenie Meyer had written it as well :|
The Host (The Host, #1). The book was better but not much of a climax in movie or book. Book seems more climatic
Stephenie Meyer's other books not as popular as Twilight series but maybe even better. I liked the host a lot. I don't know if it's the whole sci-fi aspect of it or just that it was a darn good story.
The Host (The Host, #1) my favorite book! If I can find it, I'm reading it again! It's long but amazing. Sci-fi
