"Layer cheap plastic beads in cake pans (no lining required), melt at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Let cool & then flip them out. Drill a hole in it to make it a suncatcher." I did this and it totally works. Use pony beads!

simple! layer cheap plastic beads in cake pans (no lining required), melt at 400 for 20 minutes. Let cool & then just flip them out. Drill a hole in it to make it a suncatcher. (I think I can modify this and melt beads in a muffin tin to make it classroom friendly).

    what are pony beads???

  • Emilie Levonius

    how did you string them

  • Pamela Daetwyler

Pony beads are cylinder shaped plastic beads. I used a dremel to make a hole and then tied them with fishing line. I found if you press too hard with the dremel it will break the ornament. It is better to go slow and kind of melt the hole.

These are cool, but your house will STINK! Probably pretty toxic. I did it in the summer and had to keep the windows open and fans blowing full force.
