"Elizabeth the Queen : The Life of a Modern Monarch" by Sally Bedell Smith.  I loved her book about Princess Diana "Diana In Search of Herself : Portrait of a Troubled Princess."  It is the best book I have ever read about Princess Diana.  I think it was balanced and unbiased, a trait I have never found in another book about her.
