It is hard for me to choose just one book by Philippa Gregory. They are all just so phenomenal! The Other Boleyn Girl was the first book I ever read by her. To say that I was hooked upon reading the first page is a vast understatement!
I love books that take a small passage or incident in a well established story and build off of it. The Red Tent is such a book, telling the compelling story of Dinah, the only sister to the sons of the biblical patriarch Jacob. The book seeks to insert women and their struggles back into their rightful place in history -- and does so brilliantly. I read this book almost once a year as a reminder of what women do for each other and what we should do for ourselves.
