Toni home perm...I had naturally curly hair but would cry for a perm. Finally, my Mother gave me one, and I cried because it smelled so bad! My Dad ran to their bedroom, and got a bottle of Mom's perfume, and started spraying it! Ha! Never asked for another one!!!
The Toni Home Perm was a torture box for little girls. I remember my mother gave me a Toni perm one year just before school pictures were taken - I have proof of my "afro" hairdo because my hair was nothing but a frizz ball the next day - and boy did they stink!!!
Oh Wow. My mother started giving me Toni "permanents" from the time I was a very little girl. Shirley Temple was in vogue... and my head of straight hair was ALWAYS going to have a ton of curls. (Sweet Mama... I miss you!) Toni home perm smelled up the whole house! :-)
Toni home perms--yuk. Childhood memories
My Mom, Grandma and Aunts sat under one of these with curlers in their hair when I was little. I always loved watching them fix their hair.
You are Young! :)
When we all wore poncho's
Remeber granny carty
I remember but I still don't like them! Lol
I didn't like wearing them but my Mother said I had to
Thanks to Aunt Judy!
My grandmother made my sister and I matching ones lolol
my nightmare "bubble" perm mom gave me when i was 8.1957 - A toni perm for little girls
A ceramic Christmas tree....still gets put up every year!!
wow ugly! I think they still might make these....
LOL @ very flammable!
Fancy robes were the Victoria's Secret lingerie back in the 60s. I got a new one every time I had a baby so I could look "glamorous" at home :-)
Ohhhh, mom's Mcall's patterns !
i would lean onto the grill of the heater and left a nice grill transfer on my quiltie robe. loved it! lmao
Toni Perm. Noooooo!!!!!
This is the only kind of pony tail holder my mom could use in our hair. We had tons of different colors and then she tied a yarn ribbon around each tail! Our yarn came from Pinkie's Ben Franklin in Ranchmart!
Ideal's Toni Doll - now your doll can get a perm too.
Johnson's No More Tangles...my mom used this all the time to get tangles out of my hair!
Perms, I can still smell them!
My mom used this type of washer when I was a kid. I remember wringing out clothes through that wringer on top!
And then took the outside to air dry in the sun on a "clothes line." They always smelled so fresh the first night you put them on...
The sheets smelled wonderful! Like sunshine on your bed. But the towels sure were stiff!
My grandmother had one in South Louisiana. We'd roll it put of the garage and fill it with water from the cistern,
Lol reminds me of the movie Blankman
My mom gave me one just like that as my first washing machine! At the time it was great but I wouldn't do it again. Lol
tub washer with wringer - In 1956, my mother got one with an "automatic release" button in case your hand started to go through the ringer!!
I was about 6 in 1956 and we didn't have one with "automatic release"; I got my hand/arm caught up in that wringer more than once when I was "helping" Mama
We had one without the auto release but never got my hand caught in it and I helped with the wringing the clothes. Great memories.
