In studying kids' math development in a psychology lab, I've learned that kids have to learn not only math concepts, but our language for expressing them. A kid who can do basic counting and addition when phrased in a straightforward way may have trouble answering questions with the same concept along with words like "between." I would've loved a chart like this as a kid. Grade Math, Math Problems, Math Key Words, Anchor Charts, Math Vocabulary, Math Words Problems, Math Anchors Charts, Math Keys Words, Classroom Ideas
Vocab Intro... Need to make a "permanent" board for this with matching recording sheets for students
Idea for introducing math terms. this is from a K classroom but I use it in a grade 3 classroom and use as an anchor through the unit. I also make individual sheets for students to complete to add to their math notebooks - just replace the word we with I and our with our with this.
