Harpy Eagle at L.A. Zoo // by Gamma Infinity. Harpy Eagles live in tropical /subtropical climates & are bigger than most other eagles. This particular one, a male, weighs about 10 pounds. He's a growing boy, and already dwarfs the typical American bald eagle. He swallows rats whole at feeding time. Harpy Eagles were nearly extinct but have been bred and released into the wild, and are now making a comeback.

About to land, this eagle had slowed to a speed where he was much easier to photograph" www.flickr.com/....
