Instead of I don't know... What a great reminder for every middle school classroom prompting the student to be self advocate and helping them avoid the giggles of their peers when they respond aloud " I don't know".
I love how this gives the children freedom to ask questions, without being made feel inadequate for asking! Some teachers don't allow time for this!!!! ;0)
I dont' have kids and I'm not a teacher but I really like the idea of teaching kids that "I don't know" isn't acceptable.
Follow link and you'll find a teacher's blog with these questions enlarged, in frames, and ready to print.
Instead of I don't know... Love this. Can I get all teachers to post this? Worse than "I don't know" is "I don't get it" I CAN'T STAND THAT!
If we could get to say this, I think there would be a lot less frustrated teachers :-D
2nd grade teacher might be my calling if I get Pinterest as a reference:)

I would like to use this for classroom management during my lessons. It lists statements that students may use in place of the phrases "I can't" or "I don't know." This would definitely contribute to an encouraging and positive classroom environment.
Building confidence and independence. LOVE that "Can you help me?" is included in this. Sometimes we *do* need help, and admitting it is a huge step forward. I need to make this an anchor chart in my classroom!
Don't accept "no" for an answer... I Do, We Do, You Do: I can't...I don't know... ***NOTE - I can't find the original source of this anchor chart...tried to do an image search, but still couldn't find the original post.*** (Whoever created this, it's AWESOME!)

#Motivation Giving students the language for participation is so important. Providing an anchor chart with alternatives to "I don't know!" gives them an opportunity for success, rather than to feel like they have failed. For students that need a more consistent reminder, making these on a bookmark is an excellent way to keep it in student's hands and the forefront of their minds.

This is something I REALLY want to implement in my future classroom. No more "I don't know" responses! Students who think they "don't know" the answer feel discouraged, and this starts to take away from the positive environment we're striving for in our classrooms. Therefore, if we ban the "I don't know," the student has other outlets to answer the question, including "phone a friend."
Classroom Management 2- No more, "I don't know" responses! This is particularly annoying to me when students say "I don't know." and don't even try. I could use this by first teaching student about my expectations, and then using this as a reminder.
I know all my teachers would have loved to have this when I was in school! No more, "I don't know" responses!
Add "I don't know" to the "What if" anchor chart, http://www.pinterest.com/pin/274719645994400400/
