"No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace as I have seen in one autumnal face" - Anonymous Autumn is a very popular wedding season! It's great, as most of your local guests will be in town back from their summer vacations, and prices go down again for most venues. Fall has some of the most vibrant and gorgeous colours to use as wedding backgrounds, or to include in your celebrations in many invigorating ways. Here are a few specific fall theme ideas: Delicious Apples Autumn is the ultimate season for picking apples. You can incorporate this very fulfilling event into your wedding quite easily. The simple act of adding apples into just about everything for your wedding is more than enough. Think wedding favors and decor for a minute here. You can place a plate of apples and apple slices for every table for your guests. You can also make use of apple-scented candles with candle holders shaped like apples as well. And if that's not enough, you can serve your guests apple pie, apple cider, or any other delicious apple treats. Below are apple-inspired wedding ideas: candy apple favours, apples used as place cards, apples in the center piece and apple decor on a signing table. k k k k k k k k k k k Pretty Pumpkins When autumn hits, you definitely have 2 holidays to look forward to: Halloween and Thanksgiving! For both holidays, the pumpkin is the mainstay in any household. If you plan to hold your wedding in the fall, then you can use pumpkin items for your wedding decorations and even favours. For instance, you can serve your guests boxes of pumpkin cookies, or chocolates in the shape of pumpkins. You can also use shades of yellow and orange as your wedding colours to continue the continuity. When you add dark green or chocolate brown to these colours, it actually makes the perfect combination for a pumpkin-themed wedding. Graceful Grapes The shades of green, purple and red are essential for a vineyard theme. There are so many things you can do with grapes, wine and vineyard themes. For starters, you can use fruit displays of grapes for each guest table. They make great centrepieces as well. As for wedding favours, you can go for wine glass charms, wine goblet card holders, and even wine stoppers. As for your decor, you can use vines to give that romantic ambiance of being in a vineyard. Even substitute the traditional signature book for empty wine bottles that you can then display around your home. k k If none of these theme ideas interest you, then you can always just work with the autumn colours that surround us. Here are a few more photos to help inspire your fall decor and colour schemes.
I am so happy Fall is here....now if only the hot Alabama weather would cool down just a little. I love to decorate the front porch for Fall and could hardly wait to break out the pumpkins and mums!! I painted our monogram on this pumpkin. I have a tutorial on how you can make your own monogram pumpkin here. The cotton boll wreath was the inspiration for my front porch decorating. I kept everything pretty neutral with just a little splash of color. The cotton industry is a big part of Tallassee's economy (and Alabama). I've always wanted a cotton boll wreath for our front door and this year I was determined to make one. It helps to have friends that grow cotton that let me pick some to make this! I've linked up to three great Linky Parties. If you want to see some other great fall decorating ideas click on any of the photos below! ;
This is going to be "Get ready for fall" week on my blog, ok? I've just decided. :) Anyway, I've always loved carving pumpkins, ever since I was a little kid. But did you know they can look just as cute in other ways, like painted, or used as planters? I've been loving the painted pumpkins I've seen on Pinterest and the web. I may just paint my pumpkins this year! Ok, maybe I'll still carve one or two.. ;) Either way, I've collected some creative ideas for painting pumpkins, and even a few other ways to decorate them. Get ready to be inspired! First up.....Fancy painted pumpkins! I love these spooky and creative pumpkins from Hi Sugarplum! Very inspiring! Black painted pumpkins with white lettering (from here) - I've seen chalkboard painted pumpkins, too! Paint chevron or polka dot patterns for some pretty and stylish fall decor! (from here) (from here) More painted pumpkin ideas..... (from here and here) (from here and here) I love this idea. The photo above (from here) uses real pumpkins, but to prolong the beauty, you can use faux pumpkins from a craft store like Michael's. See the tutorials below by clicking the links. I might try this - it looks so easy and pretty! (from here and here) (from here and here) I've always wanted to make this owl or this bear since I saw them a couple of years ago. They're just so cute! I especially love the Honey pot with the bear, and his stylish scarf. :) I love Katie Bower's carved pumpkin owl. I am determined to try an owl this year! (from here and here) Monogramed pumpkins, whether carved or painted, would look charming on a fall porch. (from here and here) You've heard of a snowman, but what about a pumpkin man? Love it. And skeleton keys would definitely add some charm to any pumpkin decor scene. I love the "FALL" spelled out. So creative. Are you ready to start decorating for fall yet?

Fall list! Can't wait, my favorite time of year!!
Fall bucket list. My favorite season!
fall fun- my favorite season
Let me just clarify something for a minute. I DO NOT WANT TO ADMIT FALL IS COMING. I know that everyone else is on the Fall bandwagon, but I just can't seem to believe that summer is yet coming to a close and I don't want to think about pumpkin spice latte's and boots with skinny jeans yet. In fact, my legs are feeling claustrophobic thinking about it. Let me keep my shorts and iced tea, pleaseandthanks. It's still summer in my book. Anyway. That being said. Pinterest is a buzz with All Things Fall and the Bucket List has been requested to be updated with "2013", and so I just redid the whole header area--I think it's pretty cute. The idea behind this is to go to the printable page, download it, print it to your printer (should print as an 8x10), put it behind a glass frame, and then use a dry erase marker to check off the activities as you go. Old picture of first printable, but you get the idea. It's not used to MAKE SURE YOU DO EVERY ONE all religious and strict-like. It's more so, a guide. You're thinking, what should we do this weekend? Oh yea, let's put apple picking on the agenda. That'd be a great family memory. You know? Also. When I made this, I made it for our family. Things like "go on 2 dates" was a goal for my husband and I. Leaf pile photoshoots? Kinda fun. Nature walks. I love. So, I get that it might not be your thing to do all of these, and that's cool. I wasn't really thinking of the general public when I made this thing a few years ago. (sorry, it's true) But,you can still use it if you want. Find the printable here and enjoy. Do me a favor and if you PIN this one (so people can find the 2013 version), use the top picture in this post? Thanks. *** Happy Fall. (Although I'm in complete denial. It's still very much summer to me.) *2013 Updated Fall Bucket List*
