Anne Stewart, whose original name was Anita Hendlin, had an affair with the Metropolitan Opera's lead tenor, Nino Martini around 1934-1935. Nino was being groomed for stardom, and when Anne became pregnant with Nino's child, he offered her a large payoff to sign a document saying that the child was not his. She later removed every mention of Nino's name from the article with a blade and whiteout. Nino appears in this photo as Pagliacci from the movie "Music for Madame", 1937.
