The library in a postmodern Toronto house designed by Katherine Newman with architectural designer/builder Peter Cebulak. The room’s finely carved capitals are complemented by a great number of noteworthy antiques, among them a circa-1790 satinwood worktable. Here you see a corner of Felbrigg Hall library in Norwich. The spectre of former resident William Windham III is said to appear in this dark and shadowy Gothic library. He’s been spotted standing by a table when his favorite volumes were laid out.
Home libraries usually either look way too stuffy or like the decorator was just trying too hard. This one just looks cozy. I love the shelf to the right of the couch because it just looks like a floor to ceiling stack of books. My library will totally have stacks of books no matter how hard I try to keep them all on the shelves.
