Old barns built by people of German heritage (such as the Amish) usually had a "ramp" made out of earth, going to the main door. Barns by people of Scandanavian heritage were often completely stone, with no ramps. Neat!

LOL. This looks almost like the shire. I have a great, great affection for barns---esp. those that are well-worn.

You would think after a couple years in WI I would have gotten my red barn fix...still love the site of it.
