"If I Was President, I Would ..." For this assignment, students create a flag background and design their portraits on top. These colorful projects and creative writing assignments would make an eye-catching Presidents' Day bulletin board display.

Students write about what they would do as president, but they must include 5 responsibilities of the president. On another sheet of paper students write about what they would do as the governor of Texas, also including five responsibilities.

Very cute lesson for voting! Voter registration cards, voting ballots, students create a small sign to get others to vote for the “best book” according to them, voting chart and ending with a writing activity!

This project includes art (paper self-portrait), fine motor skills (cutting red strips for flag), math (counting fingerprint "stars"), AND language skills all wrapped up in a social studies lesson. GENIUS!
