Plant lemon grass for privacy and to keep the mosquitos away. Who wants a solid fence next to an entry door or a bedroom window? This soft, elegant solution is far preferable. A trio of Ali Baba–scale pots, each planted with a stunning ornamental grass, creates a kinder, gentler barrier with style.

Grass for the deck..very heavy but looks beautiful and you just put it under the deck in the fall and bring it back in the spring..easily decorated with flags or lights or silk flowers...

Lemon grass is a natural mosquito repellent and grows quite tall. Plant some in deep planters and place on the patio or where you will have people sitting, and you will also have a privacy hedge with the height the grass grows. The scent is very appealing, not like sprays contains deet! It us a perennial grass so you won't have to worry about planting it again!!.

grass pots - love them! Instant drama and extra privacy for the cottage deck

Love the checkerboard paving - if you were careful about the 'grass' you planted, you wouldn't need to mow (e.g. microlaena, chamomile, thyme, creeping mint, even violas...) I've always loved this idea, but having to continually maintain it put me off. Love the idea of a ground cover that wouldn't need to be mown
