The Stone of King Solomon (or Eilat Stone) is the national stone of Israel and is found ONLY in Israel. It was mined near Eilat in what is known as King Solomon's copper mines. It has not been mined since the 1970s. Eilat Stone is a mixture of several secondary copper minerals including malachite, azurite, turquoise, pseudomalachite, chrysocolla. From Slaves to Rock Stars -- The ancient copper mines in Timna Valley of southern Israel have long been associated with King Solomon’s mines. Brand new findings, however, indicate that the metalworkers there weren’t Edomite slaves, as has been assumed based mainly on the horrid conditions of the desert, but rather esteemed craftsmen.
