“Bonaparte, First Consul” by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres (based on a portrait by Antoine-Jean Gros), circa 1804
Portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte as First Consul, ca. 1803 by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (1780–1867). Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 - 1821) was a French military & political leader who rose to prominence during the latter stages of the French Revolution & its associated wars in Europe. As Napoleon I, he was Emperor of the French from 1804 to 1815, the first monarch of France bearing the title emperor since 887.
Napoleon Bonaparte said " I have made the most wonderful discovery, I have discovered men will risk their lives, even die, for ribbons!" Bonaparte knew how to use rewards to his advantage. He was socially awkward in school but became so loved that his troops were incredibly dedicated. His knowledge of history led him to be an incredibly successful strategist.
