A gold necklace with turtles was one of five necklaces found on the body in one of the graves discovered at Vani. The Colchians apparently loved jewelry. In ancient geography, Colchis or Kolkhis was a Georgian state kingdom and region in Western Georgia. Today, this necklace should be seen as coming from the independent Republic of Georgia, near the Black Sea.
