Now I know what to do with my shoe hanger when I move into the duplex. We need a way to grow stuff without crowding the patio or taking up space on the grass. Schweet! Hanging herb garden - pair sage and rosemary, parsley (appreciates weekly liquid feeding and midday shade) and chives, and basil (cut some shoots off a supermarket-bought plant and stand them in water until they produce roots, then pot up the plantlets individually).
Got Herbs? Try this out in a Hanging Pocket Shoe Rack -This is perfect if you just have a small outdoor space. Just poke a few holes on the bottom of each pouch and fill with good soil, then a small rooted herb plant. If you water from the top, it trickles down to the lower 'pocket', like a waterfall, so don't over water!
Love the idea of planters for base of front porch railing. Do this for herbs and do flowers above and in planters around front porch=nice fragrant front sitting area+easy access to outdoor herb garden rather than side yard for herbs.
Mason Jar Herb Garden (hint - put small stones in bottom to allow the dirt to drain and you can monitor how much water is in there.. also for water use either, a long spout watering can, a spritz bottle or just shove a few ice cubes in there, they will water as they melt... no mess) put in a sunny spot so that herbs will thrive!
