I like this idea of having students create SMART goals each week. I could start off each week with introducing a unit and the students make a goal and stick it to a grid like this one. Then at the end of the week students can go check to see if they met their goals. I would change this so that the student's goals would be underneath the paper so that not every student can see all the other goals. This would hopefully make students make more personalized goals.

On each table have green, yellow and red stacks of sticky notes...as students are working on independent work, they can assess themselves by placing a sticky note on their work and as I'm walking around I can see who is struggling and whose not. Awesome strategy where students use cards to indicate how they are progressing through the independent practice. This allows the teacher to intervene when necessary and gauge student's understanding of concepts.
