      This "types of sentences" chart would be great for a middle school language arts class. The class would be broken up into four groups and each group would be assigned a type of sentence. Then, each student would be given a post-it note on which they would write an example of their assigned type of sentence. I think it could also be made into a race!

    Types of Sentences

    Each student comes up and picks a stick out of my hand; they have to place the word in the right cup. Then, after all sticks have been sorted, students can choose one stick from each cup and create a sentence using all three words. A great informal assessment!

    MAIN IDEA LESSON~ Create tables with three legs to hold up the main idea. This hands-on visual representation really brings home the, well, main idea!
