Rainy Day Activity: drop food coloring on card stock and put in the rain. I've also seen people draw pictures with markers and put those in the rain for a similar effect

Rain Painting It's raining, it's pouring, and everything's so boring! I did my best to beat the spring-rain-blues with a little twist on splatter painting yesterday. We dripped food coloring onto pages of cardstock. Then I sent my cabin-feverish child out into the elements to watch it splatter. This took about 1.2 seconds. Seriously, if I do this again I'll wait until it's sprinkling. Our steady downpour turned the painting from perfect-splatters to a muddy mess in seconds. so be careful how much rain it gets

Masking tape hopscotch in living room! This is an easy-peasy project for any day that is too hot, too cold, too windy, or too rainy to play outside.

I was really good at hopscotch, were you? Every day at recess we would rush out to the playground and play hopscotch. We used rocks or coins to toss into the squares that you had to skip. I like the idea of making a portable mat with the hopscotch outline on it so the kids can play it indoors or out.

Rainy Day Umbrella: Every Friday our Friday Playgroup (basically storytime for little kids) has crafts... which means I have to come up with a lot of simple things they can do within 15 minutes. Yeash. Not easy. I have not done these yet, but have them on the schedule for March 2013. I'm going to have them use stampers to decorate the plate (something we don't get to use often).
