Cyril Power ~ The Tube Station, 1932. Linocut ~ Bank Road Tube Station. The London Underground was one of the most dynamic technological advances of the 19th C. When this print was made there were at least 6km of track & the Underground was one of the most potent symbols of the new industrial age. Power was fascinated by the Underground & depicted various aspects; from stairs & cascading escalators to the technologically advanced curves of the tunnels & electrical signage announcing arrivals.
