A millipede. They have two pairs of legs per body segment. Their legs are short and they move slowly. Their legs in motion have a wave-like appearance. Most are less than 1 1/2 inches long, although one species in Texas (where everything is bigger) grows up to 4 inches. They feed on decomposing organic (rotten) stuff. They don't bite.
