THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ by L. Frank Baum. Partly because I adored Judy Garland in "The Wizard of Oz", I was mesmerized by the Oz books, a series of fantasy novels for children begun by L. Frank Baum and continued by Ruth Plumly Thompson and others. This is the book that started it all.

The Wizard of Oz--Trust me the book is wonderful. All most people know about The Wizard of Oz comes from the movie. Movies deviate greatly from the book. This one is no exception to that rule.

The Wizard of Oz. Toto is the name of a fictional dog in L. Frank Baum's Oz series of children's books, and works derived from them. The name is pronounced with a long "O", a homophone of "toe toe". The dog was originally a Cairn Terrier drawn by W.W. Denslow for the first edition of the Wizard of Oz (1900). He reappears in numerous adaptations, such as the famous 1939 Hollywood movie.

I can't even control how excited I am about this Wizard of Oz Unit!!

Judy, Ray, and Toto in the early days of filming. Notice how even the yellow brick road was eventually changed.

I've heard people challenging the notion that this book is Science Fiction. If it's not, then it deserves it's own genre. It was so good and so different in so many ways.
