What brand and color of paint was used on the above piece?

  • Tammy O'Neill

Yes, I too am curious. The sample pic for Martha Stewart looks like a gray, not silver. Was this piece done with the Krylon spray paint?

  • Monica Brent

The above piece is not painted. It is very misleading but common for this type of post because it is so eye-catching. It is actually silver leaf. And no paint product on the market will give you this kind of look unfortunately. Silver leafing is not difficult to learn though and the effects are wonderful! :)

Dishfunctional Designs: Upcycled Dressers: Painted, Wallpapered, & Decoupaged

This 1950's sturdy piece has been reversed stenciled. The reverse stenciling can be a matter of using painters tape to create the design that will be the focus. Sides and base could be dark stained or painted out dark. Drawers were painted with ship being created by blocking wood design w/painter's tape or it could be paint stenciled. A strong element like this chest can be a great accent, but it needs something like a blue & red oriental rug to make it flow. Plus some better accessories would be great.
