Robert Duvall. I grew up watching Robert Duvall's movies; before my parents were married, both of my parents were involved in theatre, and back in those days (before fame), my dad and Robert Duvall were good friends. Despite this connection, when I was growing up, I just couldn't connect with his work; in hindsight, I think it wasn't "showy" enough for me. But since I was a young adult, I've REALLY come to appreciate his work, and would now watch him in just about anything. Like Anthony Hopkins, so much of his acting is in his eyes. I think Gus McCrae, in 'Lonesome Dove' was the performance of his career, one of the legendary roles in all of Western film, and I STILL wish he'd won the Emmy for it!
